Our Mission
We are a global champion for the human rights of women and girls. We use our powerful networks to find, fund, and amplify the courageous work of women who are building social movements and challenging the status quo. By shining a spotlight on critical issues, we rally communities of advocates who take action and invest money to empower women.
Financial Highlights
We secured almost $18 million from a diverse range of supporters to advance the rights of women and girls worldwide in the fiscal year ended June 30, 2014. We ended our fiscal year with over $21 million in net assets. Global Fund for Women’s programs, including grantmaking and advocacy activities, comprise 77% of total expenses. Our grantmaking program includes application review, due diligence and evaluation, capacity building, and strategic convenings, in addition to nearly $7.4 million in direct grants awarded.
Our advocacy program (bolstered through our merger with the International Museum of Women) continues to raise awareness, build partnerships, and mobilize resources for women and girls. In addition to these programmatic activities, Global Fund for Women hosted a successful 25th anniversary gala in San Francisco and undertook a review of our business model and organizational identity to inform our 2016-2020 strategic plan. This plan will include a multi-year financial plan that ensures our long-term sustainability and continued financial health.
